Everything you need to know about the big day.
Our big day is on October 20, 2018. Both the ceremony and reception will take place at Castle Unicorn in Glenwood, IA, about a half hour east of Omaha.
Guests may arrive as early as 3:30 PM, and the ceremony will begin at 5:15 PM. We have hired a professional photographer, so please do not take photos during the ceremony. We'd love to see your faces, not your phones!
After the ceremony, we will take some time to mingle and take photos, then make our way over to the reception area for dinner.
Castle Unicorn is on 400 acres of beautiful greenery, with ponds and a gorgeous river. The reception area is covered, with convertible walls that raise and lower. We will have a large dancing area, and feel free to bring lawn games as we'll have plenty of space outside.
Dinner will be served buffet style. The main course will be baked ziti with sausage, with side salad and garlic knots. Please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements such as gluten sensitivity or lactose intolerance, we will make sure you are taken care of!
There will be four hours of open bar at the reception, starting after the ceremony. Open bar includes cocktails, beer, and wine.
After the four hour period, the bar will remain open as a cash-bar.
This is not a black tie event; semi-formal attire will be perfect. If you would like to dress with our color scheme, we will be using autumn reds, oranges, and plum purple, but please wear whatever you are comfortable in.
We are so grateful that many of our guests are making the trek from out of town. The Omaha Airport is small and simple to navigate, and conveniently located just outside of the downtown area. If you need a little help, click here for directions to the venue, or contact us if you need further help.
Weather around this time of year can be a little unpredictable, but we expect temperatures between 55 and 65 degrees. Rain or snow will not be likely, but be sure to bring a light jacket.
We have arranged affordable accommodations at The 402 Hotel in Midtown for our out-of-town guests. Give them a call at (402)345-9565 and be sure to let them know you're with the Brooks/Grost wedding party, and that you would like a renovated room. All rooms will be $70/night regardless of king bed, queen beds, etc. so go nuts!
If you're looking for something a little more upscale, check out The Element Hotel in nearby Midtown Crossing!
We will have a party bus available for anyone who would like to use it. It will arrive at The 402 Hotel in Midtown at 3:30 PM. There will be two return trips, the first at 9:30 PM, and the last at 11:00 PM.
Keep in mind, there will be an open bar, so if you will be drinking we recommend taking the party bus.
We will be very close to a whole lot of nature, so please do not bring confetti, and do not throw coins into the ponds or river. We will be on 400 acres, so feel free to bring lawn games and other noisy and fun activities, but make sure not to litter or drop anything that could hurt the fish or wildlife on the property.
Let us know if you'll be joining us!
The gift that we want most for our wedding is to be surrounded by our friends and family, feeling loved, having fun, and being with the people that mean the most to us. That said, if you would like to give a little something extra, we deeply appreciate it.
